Eurofins Forensics

The Challenge:

Eurofins are a world-leading provider of laboratory testing facilities with a brand-new forensic testing facility in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Fusion would be completing all electrical work, from lighting and fire alarms to security and intercom systems. The sheer scale of these works, valuing £1.4 million, on the multi-storey, 4820 metres square site meant Fusion faced a complex project ahead. Tasked with the additional constraints of a six-month timeline, a set budget and large volumes of contractors, Fusion had many elements to plan.

How We Helped:

Fusion began works on the purpose-built laboratory alongside other contractors and their own subcontractors while it was inoperative. They were able to navigate the numerous other trades and kept their project work on task.

Fusion’s full electrical installation included all power inside and outside of the building, including the installation of electrical panel boards outside to supply their plant equipment, main low-voltage power, local distribution boards and building management system (BMS) controls, as well as:

- Power to heating/cooling ventilation systems, gates, lifts and fridge freezers

- Full power lighting

- Emergency lighting

- Fire alarm system including aspirating system

- Full installation of data infrastructure

- Intercom system internally and externally with voice and video

- Security system including door access control, internal and external CCTV

- Lightning protection

Unsurprisingly, this type of building required a state-of-the-art security system and secure data network cabling, amongst other security features, to ensure those entering and leaving the property were monitored and any threat to the premises was detected instantly to mitigate risk. This security system consisted of top-range cameras, remote monitoring systems, on-site accessibility arrangements and more. These combine to give the Eurofins laboratory multiple different levels of security and surveillance measures.

Fusion also installed a number of Electric Vehicle charging points at the site. It was ensured that this elaborate project entailed Fusion’s usual high standards of professionalism and attention to detail throughout the entirety of the works.

The Outcome:

By keeping to their planned internal deadlines and using the right contractors and employees at the appropriate times, Fusion completed all the planned electrical installations across the entire site, all within the six-month deadline. The knowledge and experience they have accumulated in 26 years allowed Fusion to make ease of the vast, complex tasks at hand, and the work has been completed to our usual exceptional standards. All works are fully compliant, and the client has expressed their gratitude for the work. Fusion looks forward to working with Lindum Construction again in the future.
